Destination content a winner for hotels

Over the last couple years, we’ve seen that increasing destination content and SEO go hand in hand, because researching destinations has been shown to be the most popular use of Google in the travel category. Case in point: planning for an upcoming trip to Paris, I was online researching museum exhibits. Among the top results served up was Plaza Athenee’s hotel website summarizing the cultural highlights of the season.

One of the most interesting things happening in the industry right now? An alliance between boutique hotel marketing and representatives Small Luxury Hotels of the World tie-in with Frommer’s to provide destination content, in an attempt to boost SLH’s SEO rankings with travel and destination content. This new venture seems like a strong “win win” relationship for travel companies and publishers. Expect to see acceleration of optimizing local content in the coming year.
