Airport offerings evolve

Face it, flying these days can be only for the birds but airports around the world are offering fun and soothing options to make the travel experience a little less stressful.  It used to be that the only way you could kill time at an airport before a flight was by eating fast food or drinking at a bar. Times have changed and nowadays you can indulge in a massage, mani/pedi or an oxygen session and even karaoke!

Houston’s Bush International Airport just announced that they’re setting up karaoke booths so travelers can sing a happy tune or the blues, depending on how grumpy they are, prior to boarding their flight.

JFK, D.C., and Toronto are among some airports in North America where you can get a mani/pedi, an eyebrow wax and even your teeth whitened at 10 Minute Manicure salons.  For a 15-minute oxygen session to eliminate fatigue and for ear candling, OraOxygen shops are available in the Calgary and Detroit airports.

Specially designed for “people on the go,” the American Express Platinum Centurion Club lounge in the Mexico City airport offers complimentary neck and shoulder rubs or foot reflexology from Spa Marquis to its Centurion and Platinum Card members.

What’s next in airport amenities? Maybe it’s doctors or psychologists to help lower stress quotient.
