Preferred turndown gifts and amenities

A local gift followed by food and beverage items rank at the top of the list of preferred turndown amenities and services by guests according to a recent survey by  The Leading Hotels of the World and Market Metrix (local gifts scored 28% and chocolates or aperitifs both scored 24%). Moreover, the top scoring amenity (at 37%) preferred by guest is an upgrade (we were delighted to read this, validating our recent recommendation for a client to offer a double upgrade). This was followed by an extra night free at 29% and airport transfers dropping down to 10%.

 

The data comes from guest surveys in April 2009, and over 2000 participants represented both members and non-members of the LHW loyalty program in 95 countries.

 

What’s your favorite turndown amenity? My thinking is that it’s always best to give a gift people can consume and definitely not a paperweight.
