Rose’s evolution in hospitality

Roses are the oldest source of perfume. Ancient Sanskrit documents mention rose oil, which is the strongest form of this scent, and in the Iliad, Homer relates how Aphrodite rubbed Hector’s dead body with rose oil.

So its no wonder that when we think of luxurious hospitality, roses come to mind. Using roses in hotels isn’t necessarily new, everywhere from lobbies and dining rooms to romantic room décor and spas. And because of its many health and beauty benefits, rose oil is a key ingredient in signature spa treatments, often used in massage therapy, aromatherapy, reflexology treatments, hydrotherapy, facials, body wraps, and hair/scalp therapies.

With that being said, here’s a new twist which caught our eye:

The Hotel Adlon is the first hotel ever in Germany to be honored with the “Adlon Rose” – an English shrub rose named after the hotel. On July 4, 2011 the new rose was officially baptized by godfather Felix Adlon – a movie producer and the great-great grandson of the hotel’s founder Lorenz Adlon.  Visitors can enjoy the “Adlon Rose” splendor throughout the hotel: in the hotel’s gardens and courtyards, but also in flower pots next to the hotel entrance.  And for the month’s of July and August, the Hotel Adlon will even offer rose-inspired culinary dishes.
